“And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any… 3. ...their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.” (1 Samuel 30: 2-3)

David’s wives and children were taken into captivity. None was slain, they didn’t die, but they were taken away from David. There was no death, but it seemed that there was a loss. Things changed position; David’s possessions went out of his hands.
Captivity can manifest at any stage in life. It could be early in life, prime stage or later in life. Despite the fact that one is doing well in life does not mean one has escaped. There are captivities that won’t disturb ones carrier or success in life but will not allow one life to be meaningful. No matter how successful a person could be or how wonderful a marriage could be, captivities will not allow expected end.
Brethren, God says, things may shift, things may get out of control, the things that God has given you may appear to be taken away from you sometimes, someone else may appear to take your place, things may shift in your health, marriage, family, finances, etc., but God says, ....they slew nothing meaning that you will reign and not die.
Things may have gone out of position in your pursuit of your dreams and goals, you may lose grip on your possessions and positions, don’t lose hope when things get out of your control; you shall recover all.
Take a look at everything in your life that has shifted grounds in the wrong direction, and declare “God set me free from all kinds of captivity I am”.
